There is only one pair of hands at Doolin Guitars - mine
My designs may be
very contemporary, but when it comes to craft, I'm a traditionalist.
I'm not a factory, I'm a luthier; working alone, I'll craft your
instrument entirely with my own two hands. |
I'll build your
guitar from the finest solid tone woods. I'll select and shape every
piece of wood. I'll hand select, cut and inlay the spalted maple in
the spiral rosette, and surround it with 5-line purfling. I'll
assemble and voice your guitar according to the woods which you've
selected for it. I'll bind the body and fretboard with solid contrasting wood. I'll spray,
level and buff the finish to a high gloss. |
I'll shape your bridge by hand, and seal the wood with coats of tung oil for a warm sheen. I'll intonate the bridge saddle for perfect intonation from nut to 22nd fret. |
I'll shape the
neck to the width you prefer. If you choose any inlays, I'll cut and
inlay them by hand. I'll level and crown the frets for the lowest
action without buzzes. I'll set up your guitar according to your
preferences for action and string gauge.

Your guitar will
carry my signature on the label and inside on the top. I don't use
serial numbers; guitars are not numbers to me, they are individuals,
so each gets a name. |
In short, my philosophy as a luthier is to create everything about your guitar with my own two hands. This philosophy extends to all other aspects of my lutherie business. I do my own web design and photography. I design all of my magazine advertising. I record most of the sound samples on my Artist's page in my home studio.
But most importantly, when you call (503)236-2424 or E-Mail Me, you'll be speaking directly to me.
